Tattoo Removal FAQ’s

How many treatments will I need?

Most patients need between 5 to 10 treatments for complete tattoo removal. Patients with older, faded tattoos or those interested in fading their tattoo for a cover-up may only need 3 to 4 treatments. However, because every tattoo is unique, it’s impossible to know how many treatments you will need without evaluating it first. Our laser technicians use a wide range of factors to determine the number of treatments your tattoo will need. These factors include:

  • Age of tattoo
  • Location of tattoo
  • Ink colors
  • Ink density
  • Type of tattoo (amateur vs. professional)
  • Pre-existing scarring
  • Patient health

Are there any side effects?

Laser tattoo removal is the safest and most effective method for removing unwanted ink. Our Astanza Trinity safely penetrates through the epidermis and targets the ink particles in the dermis layer while leaving the surrounding skin tissue unharmed. The only side effects patients may experience are temporary redness, itchiness, scabbing, blistering, swelling, and hypo- or hyperpigmentation. All of these side effects are temporary reactions and heal with proper aftercare over the weeks following each treatment.

Is the laser painful?

Many patients have compared the laser to a rubber band snapping against the skin, while patients with lower pain tolerance compare it to having a tattoo applied. Fortunately, laser tattoo removal treatments take a fraction of the time it takes to apply a tattoo. Most treatments last 1 to 15 minutes depending on the size of the tattoo being treated. Integrity Ink uses the Zimmer Cryo cooling machine to minimize pain and maximize patient comfort. This noninvasive device cools and numbs the skin before, during, and after treatment. How much does laser tattoo removal cost?

Integrity Ink determines the price per treatment based on the size of your tattoo. We also offer treatment packages and discounts to help you bundle and save more. Our Astanza Trinity laser is also designed to eliminate more ink in fewer treatment sessions, saving you time and money.

How long does it take to completely remove my tattoo?

Complete tattoo removal is determined by the number of treatments your unique tattoo needs and the rate at which your skin heals. Treatment sessions are spaced a minimum of 6 to 8 weeks apart to give your skin enough time to heal between laser sessions. Depending on how many treatments you will need and how quickly your immune system heals, some patients may see complete results in a few months while others may take a year or more. Clients with a healthier immune system will see faster fading and results. Therefore, Integrity Ink recommends customers to drink plenty of water and exercise regularly.

Can you fade my tattoo for a cover-up?

Yes! Integrity Ink lightens existing tattoos to make room for new art, including cover-up tattoos. In fact, most tattoo artists recommend laser tattoo removal to cover-up clients with heavily pigmented ink. Fading a tattoo for a cover-up gives a tattoo artist a cleaner canvas to work on and also gives you more flexibility with your cover-ups color and size choices. In addition to lightening, Integrity Ink can also selectively remove different elements or shading from a tattoo while leaving the rest intact.
